Dermal Fillers

Anna uses a variety of different FDA approved dermal fillers to achieve safe, long-lasting and natural looking results. These treatments will use either a very fine needle or a slightly different device known as a cannula, which helps to reduce the potential for any bruising or swelling immediately following treatment. These options are fully discussed at the consultation as well as anaesthetic options.

All Restylane products are based on stabilized non-hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin and manufactured using NASHA patented technology backed by 15 years of research and millions of treatments since 1996, the Restylane range has a sound profile of safety and effectiveness.

The main ingredient within many dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid which is widely recognized for its safety, hydration and anti-ageing properties. This is a naturally occurring substance found within the skin in abundance in youth and diminishes as we get older. Therefore restoring this non-animal derived substance restores the soft contours to many areas of the face that become affected by volume loss associated with age, results from these treatments may last from 6 to 12 months.

These are versatile products which can serve to focus on restoring the quality and tone of the skin and to subtly restore volume to many different areas of the face such as the cheek area, improving the definition of the jawline, softening lines and folds such as those seen around the mouth or the eye and to the back of the hands as well; an area we often neglect in our anti ageing skin regime. Hyaluronic acid fillers also offer subtle improvement to the lips and can be used to solely restore the hydrobalance or to add shape and definition. This is particularly an area where a “less is more” approach is key and Anna pays close attention to the natural proportions to the face to treat accordingly.

Radiesse® is a unique dermal filler made from synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water based gel carrier. Once injected, the gel matrix augments the volume of the dermis instantly. Additionally Radiesse continues to work over time. The CaHA microspheres stimulate production of the body's own collagen, which prolongs the volume replacement over an extended period of time. Radiesse is the ideal choice for total facial and hand contouring. It can restore a healthy, youthful appearance, enhance your existing features, help you defy the signs of ageing, and increase your confidence - all without invasive surgery.

Radiesse® dermal filler meets one of the most rigorous standards for aesthetic facial injectables. Since Radiesse received FDA approval in 2006 (the American board that regulates the use of medicines and medical devices in the USA), over 2 million syringes have been used worldwide with an excellent satisfaction and safety record. In Europe, Radiesse is fully approved with the CE certification mark. Radiesse has been a much loved brand for many practitioners and clients.

Dermal Filler Frequently Asked Questions……

Does it hurt?

Thanks to the sophistication of the highest quality dermal fillers, discomfort during and after treatment is minimal. Restylane and Radiesse fillers have anaesthetic added to the product. Optional topical aneasthetic cream is available as well but often this is not necessary with the use of a safe and effective device such as the cannula which allows the filler to be placed through a single entry point in the skin as opposed to several.

How safe are dermal fillers?

Anna only uses high quality FDA approved dermal fillers. Both Restylane and Radiesse have been extensively and rigorously tested over many years with considerable evidence to support their use safely in cosmetic medicine. Minimal bruising, swelling and soreness at the sites of injection may occur and typically resolve within a few days, this may vary with each individual. Allergies to both types of filler are extremely rare.

Who is unsuitable for treatment with Dermal Fillers?

Women who are pregnant, breast feeding or trying to conceive are not suitable for any cosmetic injectable treatments. Active herpes/coldsores present anywhere on the face are a contraindication to this treatment, which is fully explained during the consultation. A reported prior sensitivity to any of the dermal filler constituents (rare) would also contraindicate treatment. A thorough medical history is performed at the time of consultation prior to any injectable treatment taking place.
